Photos from Anime Matsuri of my Sonic Rainboom Rarity costume!
Ugh, I changed my makeup from the last time because whatever I was doing made my face look terribad and now this makeup is even worse! I can’t do crazy drag queen eyes, I guess. Gonna have to tone it down a bit next time: I’d rather look good and a bit inaccurate than have a freaky face (more so than the usual).
I probably shouldn’t have worn Rarity to Anime Matsuri: the con floor had NO SPACE to maneuver, it was a nightmare. I honestly spent most of my time sidling around the venue, not joking: shuffling sideways in fuck-tall heel and stupid-huge wings was neither fun nor easy.
I wanted to enter the AM Cosplay Contest but they didn’t have at-the-con sign ups, oddly (it would have been my first contest too).
Gah, I just want to wrangle a full photoshoot with this costume then I can cannibalized the parts for other projects.

I think this is probably the best photo that I dug up after Akon of my Rarity costume (although, now that I think about it I don’t think I ever finished going through those galleries…!)

I edited hairline of my wig but I don’t recall any other big changes. I probably should color correct but I haven’t installed PS on this laptop yet so lolohwell.
I need more photos of this costume! Eeerugh.

Sonic Rainboom Rarity~
I think these are the two best photos I have so far so I cleaned them up (even though I’m not great with PS. My hairline looks weird/bad in the upclose one since I poorly edited out the bits of hair that were creeping out from under the wig. :V )
Sadly you can’t see just how much glitter I’ve got on in any of the photos!
Seriously, I had glitter all over half my face, like a psudo domino mask or something. Not the little shimmer stuff either, I’m talking about the standard sized glitter squares.

I didn’t realize that I had a hate-face on all day :( I was in all of the pain all over but I thought I was going a good job fake smiling until I say photos this evening.
You can’t even see just how drag queen outrageous my lashes/make-up!!BEST COSPLAY.
I am usually weird about My Little Pony cosplays as a lot of them don’t work, but this girl wears Rarity WELL. Love it! :D

I figured I’d get a few recognizes but folk would mostly take my photo since I was bright and outrageous looking. How wrong I was!
As I walked I could hear a constant stream of “Rarity?” “Rarity??” “Is that Rarity?!” “OH MY GOD, IT IIIIS!!!” wherever I wandered: it was amazing, I felt like a celebrity!

Rarity nails!
Because in real life I can’t abide fingernails.
I started with cheap plain fake nails and the painted a base coat in purple, then a coat of the purple glitter and latter picked up the hella fab diamond things.
I’ve made a lot of progress while being ill all day but this is something I feel like taking a break to post.
Also, my eyelashes are outrageous.
I spent what little of the day that I’ve been awake sewing the pink top for Rarity (which still needs the top border sewn).
I wish this photo could convey just how gaudy the fabric is.
Oh, and I’ve got the boas on here too, which I don’t think I ever posted a photo of even though I’ve had them for several days now.
The gloves/thigh highs aren’t done yet: I need to add the bands around the top, in the same fabric as the corset-thing.
Oh and I found some rhombus shaped gems for my cutie mark necklace, something I was stressing over.
Seeing it all mostly together I think I’ve going to go silver with the shoes.
I’m trying to figure out how in the world I can attach all the long ostrich feathers in a manner than won’t block my wings/look odd. I tried holding the pink ones up behind my shoulders, like in my design but I fear it hides too much wing. I’m pretty sure I’ll have the same issue with the purple ones I bought for the bottom. I don’t wanna leave them out but they just don’t look right. :/
Also, no makeup, still haven’t fully attached the edges of the wings (though I did wrap the harness last night). :V
