Cosplay Woes

(I had a 4 paragraph tl;dr typed up for this but tumblr ate it. Can’t be bothered to retype so I’ll touch on bits of it)
I wore this to the Repo/Rocky showing that omega—kitten, The Boyfriend and I attended on saturday night.
The event itself was pretty bleh, not nearly to the caliber of the Terrance Zdunich show, which is unfortunate.
Wasn’t all bad, as I hardly get to see omega—kitten so we did get to chat and such. :]
After the show we went to the worst IHOP in the ‘verse.
Waited 2+ hours for cold food.
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.
We were thinking we might hit up the Gay Dallas Halloween Block Party so I put the above outfit together. Fionna really wouldn’t suit the scene and Blind Mag’s Makeup takes ages, something I just wasn’t up for. I figured Slutty Red Riding Hood would fit in surefine with the homos and RHPS folks.
More on that thought process later.
Also, oh man, my boobs look weeeeeird in those pic. The street lamp illuminates one and the other looks way crooked, ahaha. Also, these were taken afterthe IHOP debacle, around 5am, so my corset it unlaced and makeup running.
Guess I should be glad the light was shitty, I wouldn’t want an accurate capture of that look!
Mostly finished Fionna costume!
I didn’t get the chance to make my thigh-highs since I had to have it ready for work friday morning. I also forgot to attach the proper button to the backpack.
OH WELL.
For an lolhalloween costume, I’m pretty pleased.
I wasn’t planning on wearing it anywhere else but The Boyfriend is now pretty excited about being Marshall Lee/Beemo so he wants me to match with ‘em. Who knows!
I think I’ll properly finish the costume so I can get some good pictures with The Boyfriend’s magnificent cat; I can’t let that majestic look-a-like go to waste!
Made my Fionna bag last night!
After the longest of days.
I ended up being awake for over 24 hours, unintentionally.
I had to work at 8am, then thrifted from 4-7pm after I got off. After that I got a hysterical call from my crazy mother so I had to go over there for 3+ hours, which resulted in me not eating anything yesterday until 10:30pm on my way home.
When I finally made it back I ended up helping my Waifu-Roommate with pictures of her sewwin’ skills for facebook (she is amazing!!).
Didn’t get started on my bag until 1am and didn’t ‘finish’ until 5:30am. I finally got to sleep around 7am, only to wake up for work at ~9am.
didn’t get to buy any stuffing due to Crazy Mother Disorder.
So I had to get creative.
I hate the look of seams on super cartoony things so I didn’t want to go the standard route and make a regular back pack in AT colours.
I ended up sactificing my pillow to the Cosplay Gods instead.
I too the pillow, case and all and safety pinned it into the position I wanted for my bag then took fleece and wrapped it around, tightly pinned those bits too. The straps are my signature fabric over craft foam technique, once again pinned to the pillow/bag.
I think it turned out pretty well, especially give the circumstances, lol.
I can’t decide if I’m a cosplay cheater for being stupid-good at ghetto rigging everythingor if I’m tapping in to some lost lore of our Cosplay Gods.
Either way, I need sleep.

Oh, while I was stuck at the Mothers I dug out my old maryjanes I bought long ago for my first cosplay, Zero no Tsukaima; they are a children’s size 4.
The blue shirt in these pics is just something I was wearing, not my Fionna shirt, for those just tuning in.
And the ‘button’ on the backpack is just a place holder scrap I cut in a circle for pics.
Oh man, I want to get my sword done in time for tomorrow but I have someone coming over today after work.

Guess what I did tonight!
Worked on my Work Halloween costume, while marathonin’ Adventure Time again!
Ghetto-made a Fionna hat and tinkered with my wig, in true totality.
Hopefully gonna pick up a top tomorrow and then whip up a skirt.
I haven’t decided how I’m going to go about the socks, prolly just going to buy some tall ones and add some quick fabric paint strips.
I’m itching to try some of the techniques we talked about at the TMCC meet (i.e. fiberglass resin) so, if time/energy permits, I may try to make her sword.
On the plus side, I have so many back-up costumes that I can wear to work that this one should be zero stress. Knowing my habits though, I’m certain to turn it in to some allnighter fiasco! ;D
Also, I took a bajillion pictures to get this decent one.
Trying to fit the hat in the frame was not easy. :|

If this turns out, should I make The Boyfriend Marshall Lee?
He has other costumes the he can wear either way, chiefly 11 and Dread Pirate Roberts (which hasn’t been seen by the public even though it has been done since…before last halloween?).
