My copy of Avengers: The Children’s Crusade just arrived and I’m so excited to read it. I didn’t really get a chance to follow the entire series so I figured I buy the collected hardcover. I can’t wait to read about the Scarlet Witch, seeing as though she’s been MIA for nearly a decade, I’m excited to be reading anything at all about her. I just love me some Wanda! *End of rant* :)
I adore Wanda too, but, fangirling aside, Children’s Crusade is/was seriously one of the best reads of the past year couple years. You will enjoy it for certain!
I live very near this school and know at least two of the background duelists.
Ahaha oh wow.
Well, I’m excited, folks!
THE HOUR OF OUR RELEASE DRAWS NEAR.
Here is is! My Casey Blevins Morning Glories PE uniform cosplay!
I’ve had this ready and waiting to wear this since October but I’ve had to wait for both the weather to be reasonable and Morning Glories to release something on the same wednesday; it has been a silly waiting game!
I didn’t put the huge logo on the back yet, since it wasn’t visible when I made my shirt based off covers and teasers. My MGA logo is a meld of both the cover and interior art (thanks for the ref SupaJoe! :D) and I’m pretty happy with it as a first time venture with fabric paint on a t-shirt: I learned what better to do next time and this one could probably use a couple more coats since the lavender paint is pretty thin. My attempts at doing a ‘serious Casey face’ didn’t go so well, ahah. She really never has a reason to smile (except Hunter ;_______;) so it tried glaring but I think I just look mildly confused and a bit put off!
I adore Morning Glories. It is glorious and wonderful and the wait for more is sheer agony. If you are unfamiliar do please check it out but DON’T SPOIL YOUR SELF.
Seriously these guys are monsters, toying with us each month. x10 as powerful as LOST’s cliffhangers and we only get issue each month, each one with more cliffhangersssss! (AND OH MY GOD, TODAY’S ISSUE aahfljsfjksldf)
I guess I’m a serious comic book masochist but I fucking love it. <3
Sleep schedule has been decimated
I got an hour of sleep tuesday night wednesday morning, got some shocking news at work and then came home to crash. I just slept 5pm-11pm.
I do not want to be up all night again.
Plus, or internet is being dumb so it isn’t like being awake is entertaining.
:C
I feel so adult.
We had our work christmas party sunday night (where I won my fuckwin new Kindle Fire in a drawing) and I ended up staying after to hang out with my bros from my old store.
The restaurant area of the place closed on us so we migrated over to the bar side.
Now, I turned 21 in junebut I’ve never been in/around or near a bar, ever (and the only drinking since then has been a silly Supernatual drinking game one night with The Roommate).
Not so much by choice, but due to happenstance; I’ve never sought out the situation, nor had a reason to.
We ended up playing pool, something I watched once when I was in 7thgrade with the opinion that I would never attempt since I knew full well how ridiculous I would look after watching other newbies.
I was totally correct in this premonition.
However, awkwardly brandishing the stick around I don’t think I’ve ever felt so adult.
One side of the bar was full of rabid sports fans, cheering for the football game.
After that ended there was a live band.
I watched a drunk girl wearing PINK Victoria Secret pants face-plant on the floor as soon as she tried to stand up, while waiting to make change in coins for more pool.
I had adorable pig-tails in my hair too.
I wasn’t drinking or anything but it felt so fresh to not be surrounded by folks I’ve know for years in an unfamiliar environment, playing a game I’d never played before, although I’d typically freak the fuck out at something like this.
I guess holding a pool stick makes one feel hella cool and adult?
Or I’m just comfortable around my work friends and playing a game that isn’t electronic is a pretty swell way to pass the time, come to find out.
I ended up having a great time, even if I was pretty terrible (I started off using the wrong hand until someone told me otherwise 2 games later).
It was like that Hyperbole and a Half comic, but being an adult for opposite reasons.
I’m an awkward shut-in.
That was a nice evening.

Guess what I did tonight!
Worked on my Work Halloween costume, while marathonin’ Adventure Time again!
Ghetto-made a Fionna hat and tinkered with my wig, in true totality.
Hopefully gonna pick up a top tomorrow and then whip up a skirt.
I haven’t decided how I’m going to go about the socks, prolly just going to buy some tall ones and add some quick fabric paint strips.
I’m itching to try some of the techniques we talked about at the TMCC meet (i.e. fiberglass resin) so, if time/energy permits, I may try to make her sword.
On the plus side, I have so many back-up costumes that I can wear to work that this one should be zero stress. Knowing my habits though, I’m certain to turn it in to some allnighter fiasco! ;D
Also, I took a bajillion pictures to get this decent one.
Trying to fit the hat in the frame was not easy. :|
OH!
If this turns out, should I make The Boyfriend Marshall Lee?
He has other costumes the he can wear either way, chiefly 11 and Dread Pirate Roberts (which hasn’t been seen by the public even though it has been done since…before last halloween?).
Yesterday, during my mailbox stake-out (long story, involves Arda, tears & the horror of USPS), I took along my Morning Glories tradepapers to reread while waiting for the post man to appear. This prompted me to recall that I planned to put together a Morning Glories Academy Gym Uniform costume to wear when the new issue comes out, which just so happens to be this coming wednesday.
I messaged Joe Eisma, the artist (who is local & amazing!!) about some details on the costume today, although now I feel hella dumb because my primary question was easily answerable by anyone with eyes. OH WELL.
I have a gray top already but I’m thinking about making shirts for my coworkers as well, since I got them into MG too and it could be hella fun to have them join in. Trouble is I dunno if they can procure scarlet/burgundy shorts in time, since they aren’t pro ghetto cosplayers, lol.
I picked up this wig ages ago from Arda (;____________;) in the same order that I got my Amy Pond wig, with the intent to have a Morning Glories cosplay group at Dallas Comic Con. Although that plan fell through I am determined to get some wear out of this gorgeous beast.
If you haven’t read Morning Glories you should give it a try. This and The Unwritten are by far my most looked forward to comics each month (though monthlies kiiiiiill me with the waiting!). It is so far similar to LOST but in this freaky, gorey, Academy.I say ‘so far’ since we only have 12 issues out thus far and the tale is really just budding. I don’t want to run the comparison too deep though, since I believe Nick Spencer, the author, far more capable for tying his tale together than LOST’s mysteries for the sake of cliff-hangers. Seriously, Spencer is amazing. If you are apprehensive about my description, give Forgetless a try, which you can read in its glorious 5 issue entirety via a single paperback: that is how you weave a story together, bitches.

Best book out this week!
DC New 52, take note: this is how you write a book.

All of it, it is wonderful.
